HOUSTON (AP) \u2014 Red Sox catcher Carlos Narv\u00e1ez was scratched from Boston\u2019s finale with Houston on Wednesday for an undisclosed reason.<\/p>\n
Narv\u00e1ez was removed from the lineup about 2 \u00bd hours before first pitch and replaced behind the plate by Connor Wong.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just made a change,\u201d manager Alex Cora told reporters. \u201cI talked to Carlos a little bit and we move on from there. So, it\u2019s one of those that I felt like we needed to make the change in the lineup. And I think it\u2019s for the best.\u201d<\/p>\n
When pressed if Narv\u00e1ez\u2019s removal from the lineup was for a disciplinary reason, Cora didn\u2019t directly answer the question.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s keep it between me and Carlos,\u201d Cora said. \u201cAnd he understands. This is something that happens on every club. It just happens to be early in the season, and I think it\u2019s the right thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old Narv\u00e1ez is hitting .444 in three games this season.
