The New York Yankees<\/a>\u2019 pitching staff has been dominant to start to the 2026 season, and it continued on Wednesday night in the team\u2019s 5-3 win over the Seattle Mariners.<\/p>\n

Cam Schlittler was on the bump against the Mariners. He went 6.1 innings, allowed two hits and struck out seven in the win. The only runs Seattle was able to muster came against New York\u2019s bullpen. Cal Raleigh had two RBI and Dominic Carzone added one more.<\/p>\n

Still, the Yankees entered rare company through their first six games of the season.<\/p>\n

New York\u2019s six runs allowed in the first six games of the season is the third-fewest in MLB history, according to MLB researcher Sarah Langs. Only the 2002 San Francisco Giants and 1915 Philadelphia Phillies have fewer runs through the first six games of a season with five.<\/p>\n

Schlittler admitted he\u2019s been only using three pitches to get the job done \u2013 a four-seamer, cutter and sinker.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarly on, it was the four-seam. Middle of the game, it was the two-seam. And then later on, it was the cutter,\u201d Schlittler said. \u201cSo again, felt pretty strong with the game plan I had, and just attacking guys with those three pitches.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schlittler started his season with a dominant performance against<\/a> the San Francisco Giants, denying the team any runs while he was on the mound in 5.1 innings.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis calling card since he got in the organization was his ability to throw strikes with his fastball,\u201d Boone said. \u201cAnd now, as he\u2019s gone to another level from a stuff standpoint, that\u2019s really served him well.\u201d<\/p>\n

New York has also been performing without its full rotation. Gerrit Cole<\/a> and Carlos Rodon are still on the injury list to start the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this staff\u2019s dominant,\u201d Schlittler said. \u201cThe bullpen\u2019s been great as well. So, I think the team as a whole, (we\u2019re) just feeding off each other and taking it into each game and each start and just keep rolling with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Yankees will head home for the first time this season. New York will welcome the Miami Marlins<\/a> on Friday for their home opener.<\/p>\n
