The Wellsboro Hornets baseball team slipped to 1-1 with an 8-7 loss to Jersey Shore on Saturday, March 28.<\/p>\n
The Hornets got on the board early with two runs in the first inning and another three in the second. Jersey Shore responded with a four-run bottom half of the inning to make it a one run game. Then in the fourth, Jersey Shore took the lead with another four-run inning.<\/p>\n
Wellsboro rallied back to within one run in the fifth inning, but weren\u2019t able to wrestle the lead from the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n
Griffin Morral and Gabe Cuneo went 2-5. Marek Mascho was 2-4 with three RBIs. Macho started the game for the Hornets on the mound and allowed five hits and five earned runs.<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite difficult weather conditions, we played well enough to win,\u201d said coach Kyle Smith. \u201cJersey Shore is a solid baseball team and they capitalized on a few more opportunities than we did. It was a quality early season baseball game which should help us moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Hornets looked to bounce back when they traveled to Towanda on Wednesday, April 1.
