In the final game of the Chicago White Sox Opening Week series, the Brewers&#8217; six-pack gave them a 9-7 comeback win. Today\u2019s game was slightly less dramatic, but their sixer broke a 2-2 tie in an 8-2 triumph over the pesky Tampa Bay Rays.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tLet\u2019s take a look at the \u2018Eighth Inning Heroes.\u2019\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe White Sox held a 7-3 lead going into the penultimate inning of the final game of the three-game series. Southpaw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/murphch01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Murphy<\/a> came on for the Sox and gave up a single to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/o\/ortizjo06.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joey Ortiz<\/a> and then wild-pitched him to second. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bauerja01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jake Bauers<\/a> struck out, and then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lockrbr01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brandon Lockridge<\/a> got aboard via an infield base hit. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/p\/perkibl01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Blake Perkins<\/a> walked to load the bases before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/t\/turanbr02.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brice Turang<\/a> singled to left, scoring Ortiz to make it 7-4. Murphy went to the showers as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/d\/dominse01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seranthony Dom\u00ednguez<\/a> came on. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/contrwi02.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">William Contreras<\/a> popped to third, and the Sox appeared to have an exit ramp in sight.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tNot so fast. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/rengilu01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luis Rengifo<\/a> made his first hit as a Brewer count, knocking in Lockridge and Perkins to cut the lead to 7-6. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/y\/yelicch01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christian Yelich<\/a> pinch-hit for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/sanchga02.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gary S\u00e1nchez<\/a> and blasted a three-run bomb that traveled 421 feet and gave the Brewers a 9-7 lead. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/f\/frelisa01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sal Frelick<\/a> walked, and Ortiz struck out to end the inning. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/megiltr01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trevor Megill<\/a> allowed a scratch single but retired the side after that.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn Wednesday\u2019s rubber match with Tampa Bay, both teams scored a pair of runs in the third inning on two-run homers by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/d\/diazya01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yandy D\u00edaz<\/a> and Turang, respectively. Other than that, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/r\/rasmudr01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Drew Rasmussen<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/misioja01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jacob Misiorowski<\/a> held the opposing teams in check, although a foul ball off the bat of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/f\/forteni01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Fortes<\/a> took out beleaguered home plate ump C.B. Bucknor on a \u2018mask shot.\u2019\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFormer long-time Twinkies pitcher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jaxgr01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Griffin Jax<\/a> took over to start the bottom of the eighth, and once again, Ortiz began the frame with a single. Turang bunted to third, and the throw to first was dropped by first baseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/c\/caminju01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Junior Caminero<\/a>, who had moved over from third after a pair of throwing miscues at the hot corner. Will Bild singled to jam the sacks before Yeli singled to drive in two runners to make it 4-2. Bauers walked, and once again the bags were full, bringing on new Rays pitcher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/e\/englema01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mason Englert<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mitchga01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Garrett Mitchell<\/a> promptly doubled to score Contreras and Yelich to give the Crew a 6-2 lead. Frelick fouled out, and then Perkins got an RBI groundout on a 3U by Caminero. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=hamilda03,hamilt006dav&amp;search=David+Hamilton&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David Hamilton<\/a> singled to knock in Mitchell, and once again, Joey O. was the spoilsport, grounding out to end the inning. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/h\/halldl01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=brewerfanatic.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-02_br\" rel=\"external nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DL Hall<\/a> sandwiched three strikeouts amongst a hit-by-pitch and a single to win the series, two games to one.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tYelich (2-for-2) and Ortiz (2-for-4) have been effective. Ironically, Ortiz led off each of the innings with hits and then finished them with outs.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Brewers have been very successful this year, putting up crooked numbers in 13 of the 49 innings they have batted in this year. Milwaukee and Houston have each scored 45 runs this season, leading MLB.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMy question, maybe too early, but can this be a magical season for the Brewers?
