The Colorado Rockies<\/a> went to Toronto with an 0-3 record after being swept by the Miami Marlins. The Rockies<\/a> left town with a series win.<\/p>\n

The Rockies<\/a> won the finale in 10 innings, 2-1, on Wednesday. That came after falling in the second game of the series, 5-1, with Colorado taking the first game of the series, 14-5. That counted as Colorado\u2019s first offensive explosion of the season. <\/p>\n

Colorado<\/a> gets a much-needed day off on Thursday to gear up for their home opener with the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday. The Rockies also have some time to think about the milestone they hit while in Toronto.<\/p>\n

Last season the Rockies were the worst team in baseball. Colorado finished the season with 119 losses, narrowly missing tying the 2024 Chicago White Sox for the most losses in a single season. That included one of the worst starts in franchise history. It was so bad that it took until June for the Rockies to win a series.<\/p>\n

That happened on June 2-4 when the Rockies faced, oddly enough, the Marlins, and swept Miami. With the sweep, Colorado improved to 12-50. <\/p>\n

With their series win on Wednesday, the Rockies improved to 2-4. <\/p>\n

The Rockies have spent the offseason rebuilding the organization after three straight 100-loss seasons. Colorado hired Paul DePodesta as the president of baseball operations and he hired Josh Byrned, a former Rockies assistant general manager, as his GM. The pair opted to keep Warren Schaeffer as the manager and removed the interim tag. <\/p>\n

The Rockies have gotten a great start out of rookie first baseman TJ Rumfield. He\u2019s slashed .429\/.478\/.619 in six games with a home run and three RBI. Kyle Freeland has looked sharp in two starts, as he\u2019s 0-1 with a 2.89 ERA in 9.1 innings. But he hasn\u2019t made a start yet at Coors Field. <\/p>\n

Some of the veterans the Rockies signed have worked out early, including pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano, who has a 1.93 ERA after one start. Others, like Willi Castro and Edouard Julien, have been slow to get their bats going. <\/p>\n

Colorado starts a six-game homestand with the Phillies that ends on Sunday. Following that, the Rockies will host the Houston Astros for three games before heading back on the road for a four-game series at San Diego from April 9-12, followed by a trip to Houston to face the Astros from April 14-16. \u00a0<\/p>\n
