The MacKenzie Gore acquisition was a big one and the headliner this offseason.

But one that cannot go ignored is the player-for-player swap with the New York Mets. Texas sent Marcus Semien, while New York sent Brandon Nimmo south.

And while it’s been only one week, the early returns are in, and the Rangers, as Kennedi Landry of MLB.com notes, look to have made out very well with this trade, with Nimmo having a major impact for the Rangers in just one week.

Rangers getting huge Nimmo impact after just 1 week

“Brandon Nimmo is having a real offensive impact,” Landry writes. “… In just six games, that impact has been felt at the top of the lineup, as Nimmo’s approach has percolated throughout the lineup.”

Nimmo has taken over an outfield spot and has also entrenched himself as the Rangers’ leadoff hitter. And through the opening week of the season, he’s been exactly what the Rangers needed.

As Landry notes, “He fights off pitches, he draws his walks, he swings at strikes, he does everything that new manager Skip Schumaker wants from the lineup.”

To begin the 2026 season, Nimmo has made his impact felt in a big way. He has one home run, four RBIs, and one stolen base to go with a .360 batting average and a .949 OPS.

More: Jacob DeGrom is only 149 strikeouts from 2,000 for his career

That’s a very impactful hitter, and someone the Rangers should be glad to have in their leadoff spot this season.

In comparison, Semien has struggled big-time for the Mets.
