However, on Wednesday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/san-francisco-giants\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">San Francisco Giants<\/a> made a sneaky move to sign a veteran catcher to a minor league deal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Giants have apparently re-signed catcher Eric Haase\u00a0to a minor league contract. The Warner Sports Management client is in the lineup tonight for Triple-A Sacramento,&#8221; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mlbtraderumors.com\/2026\/04\/giants-re-sign-eric-haase-to-minor-league-deal.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors <\/a>wrote yesterday.&#8221; Haase had been released from his previous minor league deal at the end of Spring Training.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>MORE:\u00a0<a target=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/kansas-city-royals\/news\/terrance-gore-son-honors-dad-perfect-first-pitch-royals-home-opener\/0d6f0212372e3fa358873a70\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Terrance Gore&#8217;s son honors dad with perfect first pitch<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Haase is an eight-year veteran and will now try to impress enough at Triple-A to earn a backup role <a target=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/san-francisco-giants\/news\/giants-catcher-patrick-bailey-mlb-history-opening-day\/11b55ecff6d3f0f75d9593ff\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">behind Patrick Bailey<\/a>. The 33-year-old hit .229\/.289\/.357 with two home runs and nine RBIs in 77 trips to the plate last season with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/milwaukee-brewers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Milwaukee Brewers<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He made his Major League debut with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/cleveland-guardians\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cleveland Guardians<\/a> in 2018, spending parts of three seasons there before four years with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/detroit-tigers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Detroit Tigers<\/a>.
