Following a great campaign in 2025, the Toronto Blue Jays are once again off to a strong start and hoping to get back to the playoffs to avenge their World Series defeat.<\/p>\n

After a busy winter, the Blue Jays came into this season with much different expectations than last year. While Toronto might have been able to sneak up and surprise some people in 2025, that won\u2019t be the case this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays are rightfully considered to be one of the best teams in the American League, and they spent a lot of money to try to solidify that spot. While the team might have seen their star slugger, Bo Bichette, leave in free agency, improving the pitching staff appeared to be more of a priority.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Based on where they might have been lacking the year prior, improving the pitching staff rather than spending on Bichette was arguably the right move. However, injuries have been a major issue <\/a>for the team, and they might need to add some additional help.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Zachary D. Rymer<\/a> recently wrote about the Blue Jays being a potential landing spot for Minnesota Twins starter Joe Ryan at some point this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ryan Could Make Sense for Blue Jays\"Minnesota<\/p>\n

Even though Toronto has worked tirelessly trying to improve their starting rotation since last summer, there is no such thing as too much pitching, and they have found that out the hard way.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Injuries have unfortunately been a major storyline<\/a> for the pitching staff and the team already this year, and adding more help for the unit could be in the cards down the line. Toronto is already a team that had to bring back veteran Max Scherzer to help provide some depth and someone who was capable of eating innings.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While depth is important during the regular season, the Blue saw firsthand against the Los Angeles Dodgers what a great rotation can accomplish in the playoffs. While the team did add Dylan Cease, adding a pitcher of the caliber of Ryan could help make this unit even better.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last year, the right-hander totaled a 13-10 record and 3.42 ERA on a Twins team that seemingly gave up at the trade deadline. Going to a contender like Toronto would likely result in better things for Ryan, and he would make a lot of sense.
