Over the offseason, the Chicago White Sox<\/a> built some hope. They were more aggressive than in previous years, trading for and signing players.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They were able to acquire a few arms, like Anthony Kay, Seranthony Dominguez, Jordan Hicks, Sean Newcomb, and Erick Fedde. Offensively, they brought in Austin Hays, Luisangel Acuna, and Munetaka Murakami.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And Murakami has been nearly the only new face who is performing well. He is hitting .238\/.360\/.667 with three home runs and four runs batted in.\u00a0<\/p>\n

White Sox pitching staff is making a rough start look even worse<\/p>\n

The offense has not really clicked for the White Sox yet, but that is not the big problem. That would be with the state of the pitching staff.<\/p>\n

Shane Smith has been knocked around during his first few starts, and the additions of Jordan Hicks and Seranthony Dominguez have not paid off in the bullpen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That is a reason for the team’s 1-5 start, and Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller<\/a> does not hold onto hope that it will look much better anytime soon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“They traded for Jordan Hicks to make him their closer and he has an 11.57 ERA through three appearances. They also gave Seranthony Dominguez a two-year, $20M contract, and he has a 13.50 ERA thus far.”<\/p>\n

The White Sox do not have the offensive star power that will carry them through a rough stretch of pitching. They need both their starters and relievers to look the part and give the offense a chance to be in games.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The fanbase is hoping this kicks in sooner rather than later. There hasn’t been much of a chance to cheer for this club over the years, and with the offseason they had, the fans were hoping for something much better.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, it is still extremely early in the season, so players still have time to bounce back and get this team back on track.<\/p>\n
