The future has officially arrived! Konnor Griffin, one of the top prospects in baseball, will make his pro debut this Friday when the Pirates play their home opener against the Orioles.<\/p>\n
Griffin, a 19-year-old shortstop, hit .171 in 16 Spring Training games. Not selected to join the main roster right away, he started the year in Triple-A. While there, he produced a .438 batting average with five walks and three stolen bases.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The former first-round pick will take the shortstop role from the struggling Jared Triolo. He\u2019s expected to sign a long-term extension with the Pirates.<\/p>\n
