The Pittsburgh Pirates needed to make room on the active roster for Konnor Griffin<\/a>, who is being promoted for what will be his big-league debut during Friday\u2019s home opener at PNC Park. <\/p>\n To make room on the active roster, the Pirates optioned Billy Cook to Triple-A Indianapolis. Cook appeared in three games as a defensive replacement\/late-game sub this season, played two innings in right field and scored one run.<\/p>\n Cook has played in 22 games over the last three seasons with the Pirates and has hit .236 with a .673 OPS, two doubles, three home runs and eight RBI. He\u2019s also been responsible for seven defensive runs saved.<\/p>\n Last year with Indianapolis, Cook hit .248 with a .706 OPS, 17 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 46 RBI and 13 steals in 94 games.
