Rebilas-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>The Reds confirmed Lodolo\u2019s blister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news-journalonline.com\/story\/sports\/mlb\/reds\/2026\/04\/02\/blister-issue-bites-cincinnati-reds-starter-nick-lodolo-again-during-rehab-start-daytona-tortugas\/89443586007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">to the Cincinnati Enquirer<\/a>, though it is still unclear if the issue will delay the lefty\u2019s return to the major league club.<\/p>\n<p>Lodolo, who has dealt with blister injuries throughout his MLB career, suffered the initial injury during his final spring training start on March 22.<\/p>\n<p>Cincinnati skipper Terry Francona said Monday that Lodolo was slated to make his season debut for the Reds during the team\u2019s series against the Marlins (April 6-9) in Miami, barring any setback.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t want to have him go somewhere and not pitch,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.news-journalonline.com\/story\/sports\/mlb\/reds\/2026\/03\/30\/nick-lodolo-injury-rehab-start-date-reds-rotation\/89390430007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Francona told the Enquirer<\/a>. \u201cSo we thought this was the best way to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38979305\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/delivers-second-inning-spring-training-122199119.jpg\" alt=\"Cincinnati Reds pitcher Nick Lodolo delivers a pitch during a spring training game.\" class=\"wp-image-38979305\"  \/>Reds pitcher Nick Lodolo delivers in the second inning during a spring training baseball game against the White Sox on Feb. 25, 2026, in Phoenix. AP<\/p>\n<p>Lodolo is coming off perhaps his best MLB season in his four-year career so far, where he posted a 3.33 ERA with 156 strikeouts and two complete games through a career-high 156\u2154 innings.<\/p>\n<p>This also comes as the Reds are without their ace, Hunter Greene, who is recovering from arthroscopic surgery that he underwent on March 11 to remove bone chips from his throwing elbow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d been dealing with discomfort for a while,\u201d Greene told reporters following his surgery, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/news\/hunter-greene-discusses-elbow-injury-rehabilitation-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according to MLB.com<\/a>. \u201cOver the course of a season and feeling certain things in an area, especially as an elbow \u2026 as a pitcher you think that it\u2019s just, \u2018Maybe I\u2019m feeling a little inflammation or discomfort,\u2019 and it\u2019s to be expected because we\u2019re pitchers. Obviously, it\u2019s a lot on the body.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bone spurs came up as chronic so there\u2019s no timestamp as to when it formed, but it\u2019s been there. It\u2019s still early [after the surgery], so I still feel it and it\u2019s still uncomfortable and swollen.
