That followed the right-hander being placed on the seven-day minor-league injured list last week with an undisclosed injury, and his being designated for assignment on Tuesday.

<img id="11580632" alt="" caption="LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - AUGUST 7: A detail of the Seattle Mariners logo on a hat in the sixth inning during a game against the New York Mets at T-Mobile Park on August 10, 2024 in Seattle, Washington. Then, he quickly learned that staying in the majors is even harder than getting there.

Loutos was waived and traded from the Cardinals to the Los Angeles Dodgers last April, then waived again and claimed by the Nationals in June. He’s made 15 total major league appearances for his three teams as of Thursday, sporting a 10.14 ERA with 17 earned runs and 22 hits allowed in his 14 1/3 innings.

In the same wave of transactions, the Mariners activated shortstop J.P.
