SLIPPERY ROCK \u2014 The DuBois Beavers offense poured it on early against Moniteau on Thursday at Slippery Rock University, scoring eight first-inning runs before an out was recorded en route to a 14-1, five-inning mercy-rule win.<\/p>\n
DuBois hammered out 15 hits, seven of which were of the extra-base variety, highlighted by Madix Clark\u2019s first-inning grand slam that capped the eight-run frame and a two-run shot by Bryson Kail to make it 10-0 early in the second.<\/p>\n
Easton Harris also tripled, and four DuBois players \u2014 Adam Drahushak, Isaac Dennison, Noah Farrell and Samson Deeb \u2014 doubled. Trey Wingard had three hits and three RBIs, and Brody Knouse also went 3-for-3.<\/p>\n
Deeb got the ball rolling for DuBois in the first by drawing a walk, and after he stole second, Wingard ripped a single to center to plate him and make it 1-0. Wingard then stole second and scored on a double to center by Farrell, and he came in to score on Mason Dinkfelt\u2019s hard grounder through the right side to make it 3-0.<\/p>\n
Kail then walked, and Knouse singled to load the bases, and when Drahushak was hit by a pitch, it forced Dinkfelt home and made it 4-0, setting the stage for Clark who powered one out of the park to left to double the lead and make it 8-0.<\/p>\n
DuBois got right back to it in the top of the second, with Dinkfelt leading off with a single to set up Kail\u2019s two-run dinger. Then, Knouse singled and Walker Thomas was hit by a pitch with two outs, setting up an RBI double to center by Deeb and a two-run single up the middle by Wingard to make it 13-0.<\/p>\n
Moniteau got one back in the bottom of the third when No. 9 hitter Blaine Jamison singled and leadoff hitter Ian Ross tripled to plate him, making it 13-1 through three.<\/p>\n
DuBois got the game\u2019s final run in the top of the fourth courtesy of a one-out triple to right by Harris and a two-out, run-scoring double, also to the right side, by Dennison, making it 14-1.<\/p>\n
Grady Galiczynski pitched the first four innings, allowing the one earned run on four hits and striking out three to earn the win, and Jonathan Reed pitched a 1-2-3 fifth to close out the win.<\/p>\n
DuBois remained perfect with the win, improving to 5-0 on the season, while fell to 2-3. The Beavers will host Bradford on Monday.<\/p>\n
