The deal includes a full no-trade clause, a ninth-year club option, and escalators that could exceed more than US$130 million.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.twitter.com\/YahooSports\/status\/2038976750139359669\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Colt Emerson has long been viewed by the Mariners as a massive piece to their long-term plans, and the club is making an unprecedented commitment to the 20-year-old infielder before he&#8217;s even reached the Majors,&#8221; MLB.com wrote.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am excited to play for the Mariners for a really long time,&#8221; Emerson said in a statement. &#8220;The people in the organisation, including my teammates, the staff, and the Seattle fans, are a big reason why my family and I love being here and want to stay here,&#8221; Emerson said in a Seattle Mariners press release.<\/p>\n<p>Born in 2005, Emerson grew up in Cambridge, Ohio.<br \/>He was on the USA team that won the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2017, but played only two games.<\/p>\n<p>He attended John Glenn High School. As a junior in 2022, he batted .459 with five home runs, 12 doubles, three triples, and 21 runs batted in (RBIs).<\/p>\n<p>Emerson helped the United States win the 2022 U-18 Baseball World Cup on home soil in Florida. He went <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wbsc.org\/en\/events\/2021-u18-baseball-world-cup\/teams\/1573\/players\/173748\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.wbsc.org\/en\/events\/2021-u18-baseball-world-cup\/teams\/1573\/players\/173748\" target=\"_blank\">9-for-25<\/a>, a .360 batting average, starting eight games at third base and one at shortstop.<\/p>\n<p>In his senior season, he hit .446 with eight home runs, 39 runs scored, and 25 RBIs. The Seattle Mariners picked Emerson in the first round of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbsc.org\/en\/news\/mvp-bryce-eldridge-one-of-seven-wbsc-u-18-world-champions-selected-in-mlb-draft-day-1\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.wbsc.org\/en\/news\/mvp-bryce-eldridge-one-of-seven-wbsc-u-18-world-champions-selected-in-mlb-draft-day-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">2023 MLB Draft<\/a>, with the 22nd overall selection. On July 14, he signed with the Mariners for US$3.8 million.<\/p>\n<p>Emerson made his professional debut in August with the Arizona Complex League Mariners. After 8 games, Emerson advanced to the Single-A Modesto Nuts. He reached base in all but one of his minor league 28 games in 2023 including postseason games.<\/p>\n<p>He started the 2024 season in the 100 top prospect list, but suffered two injuries. He struggled with the Class A Advanced Everett AquaSox, but played well during the Arizona Fall League. <\/p>\n<p>He went back to Everett for the 2025 season and was promoted to the Double-A Arkansas Travelers on August 4. On September 15, Emerson was promoted again, this time to the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers. He homered in his debut game.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.twitter.com\/MLBPipeline\/status\/1968063158112936297\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>In 2025, at three minor league levels, Emerson played 130 games and posted a .285 batting average with 16 home runs, six triples, and 14 stolen bases. He primarily played shortstop.<\/p>\n<p>After playing 18 Spring Training games and posting a .268 batting average with two home runs and eight RBIs, Emerson began the 2026 season at Triple-A.
