The New York Yankees<\/a> had a solid chance to have star lefty Carlos Rodon back in their rotation later this month when he threw a 50-pitch live batting practice session on Sunday. It was, at the time, the latest step in the right direction after elbow surgery in October to remove loose bodies and a bone spur.<\/p>\n

However, not long after the session, he reported some hamstring tightness, which he had suffered while running. The pitcher, however, never stopped throwing, indicating that the latest issue was not serious.<\/p>\n

Reports indicated that no tests were scheduled on his hamstring, further strengthening the thesis that it wasn\u2019t an overly serious concern. Friday\u2019s developments added even more optimism that his timeline won\u2019t be too affected by this obstacle.<\/p>\n

If the Yankees are already thinking about a rehab assignment within the next week or two, it\u2019s clear that the hamstring tightness won\u2019t derail his rehab process very much. Perhaps April would be a stretch, but there\u2019s a good chance he ends up rejoining the active roster at some point in early May.<\/p>\n

The Yankees\u2019 pitching staff is, at least in the first week of the 2026 campaign, the best in baseball. Still, denying that a healthy, locked-in Rodon would be an upgrade would be foolish. <\/p>\n

The left-hander posted a 3.09 ERA last year in 195.1 innings, adding 18 wins and 203 strikeouts to his stat profile.<\/p>\n
