The Minnesota Twins announced that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Garrett Acton from the Miami Marlins in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Logan Whitaker.<\/p>\n
Acton, 28, recently appeared in two games for Triple-A Jacksonville, pitching 2.1 scoreless innings, with one hit allowed, one walk and three strikeouts for the Jumbo Shrimp. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound lefty spent most of 2025 with Triple-A Durham in Tampa Bay\u2019s organization, going 5-1 with a 3.68 ERA (58.2 IP, 24 ER), 27 walks, 71 strikeouts, three saves and a 1.13 WHIP in 45 games (4 starts). The Naperville, Illinois native was originally selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 35th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft and has appeared in seven major league games, six in 2023 with Oakland and one in 2025 with Tampa Bay. He will report to Triple-A St. Paul.<\/p>\n
Whitaker, 25, was selected by the Twins in the 19th round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of North Carolina State University and pitched in parts of two minor league seasons in Minnesota\u2019s system from 2024-25, going 4-0 with a 2.13 ERA (42.1 IP, 10 ER), 10 walks and 38 strikeouts in 27 games.<\/p>\n
To make room for Acton on the 40-man roster, the Twins have transferred right-handed pitcher David Festa (right should impingement) to the 60-day Injured List.<\/p>\n
