It was a night of rallies for the Chapman Lady Irish softball team as they had to come from behind in both games to get the win.<\/p>\n
In the dramatic finish to the opener, Olivia Harold singled to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as Chapman won 4-3 over the Clay Center Tigers. With one out in the Irish seventh, Harold singles sharply to the shortstop to score Zoey Peterson from third for the win. Peterson doubled to lead off the seventh.<\/p>\n
Harold picked up the win for Chapman in the circle going the distance, allowing three runs on eight hits. She struck out 10 and didn\u2019t walk a batter.<\/p>\n
Clay Center had taken a 3-0 lead in the top of the third before the Irish scratched across a run in their half of the inning and then tied the game with two runs in the fifth.<\/p>\n
Shortstop Jai Rogers had three hits out of the leadoff spot in the order, scoring twice. Harold had a pair of hits and drove in two. Peterson also had two hits for Chapman while McKenzie Leighty and Anna Martinez also had hits and RBI\u2019s.<\/p>\n
Bailee Williams took the loss for the Lady Tigers. She went four innings, gave up three runs on six hits, striking out none and walking two.\u00a0 Aubrey Pfizenmaier led Clay Center with two hits.<\/p>\n
In game two, Clay Center took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first before the Lady Irish pushed across four in their half of the inning. The Tigers added two in the second and one in the third for a 6-4 lead after three innings. Chapman exploded for five runs in the fourth and added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. The Tigers pushed across a run in the top of the seventh for the final Chapman 11, Clay Center 7.<\/p>\n
Harold went four for four at the plate with a triple. Teagan Ellsi had three hits while Rogers and Martinez smacked a pair of hits each. Martinez clubbed two triples while Rogers added a homer. Peterson and Jacey Shippy also had hits for Chapman.<\/p>\n
Kaylee Livinston started in the circle for the Irish going two and one-third innings allowing six earned runs on nine hits. She walked one batter. Rogers picked up the win in relief going four and one-third innings allowing one run on three hits. She walked one and struck out four.<\/p>\n
Jayde Richter took the loss for Clay Center while Maizy Gurney, the Tigers catcher, went two for four with three RBI. She and Shae Berroth both homered for Clay Center.<\/p>\n
Chapman moves to 4-0 on the year and will play Valley Heights today.<\/p>\n
