The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> have a new pitcher, and he’s got quite the resume.<\/p>\n

Two All-Star appearances and a World Series ring? And it only cost $1 million.<\/p>\n

The new guy is past his prime, sure, but he’s still Patrick Corbin.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays announced the signing on Friday, a one-year contract for $1 million. Corbin will report to Dunedin.<\/p>\n

Corbin is 36 years old now, but the lefty was a good MLB pitcher for a long time.<\/p>\n

He’s from the Syracuse area, attending Cicero-North Syracuse before Mohawk Valley Community College and Chipola College.<\/p>\n

He was a second-round pick of the Angels in the 2009 MLB Draft.<\/p>\n

He has won 110 games in his MLB career with a 4.51 ERA.<\/p>\n

Corbin has pitched for the Diamondbacks, Nationals and Rangers.<\/p>\n

Last season for Texas, he had a 4.40 ERA in 31 appearances (30 starts).<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays are probably hoping they don’t need Corbin to make MLB starts, but they’ve dealt with a lot of injuries in the early going this season, and Corbin adds solid depth.<\/p>\n

He has thrown at least 150 innings in each of the last five MLB seasons, so the Blue Jays know Corbin can at least provide that if they need it.<\/p>\n

It’s not clear what kind of shape Corbin’s arm is in currently, but Toronto will give him the time he needs to loosen up and then decide what to do with him next.<\/p>\n
