Diamond Images\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bnicholsonsmith\/status\/2040191284862660672?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">Sportsnet\u2019s Ben Nicholson-Smith reported<\/a> that Corbin has been \u201cworking out extensively\u201d and is already tossing 80 pitches during bullpen sessions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPossible he needs just a couple minor-league starts,\u201d he wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Corbin addition comes as Toronto deals with a handful of injuries to its starting rotation during the early going of the 2026 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, starter <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/31\/sports\/blue-jays-cody-ponce-to-miss-significant-time-after-injuring-acl\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cody Ponce went down with an ACL injury<\/a>, which is expected to sideline him for a significant amount of time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The team had already been dealing with injured list stints for Shane Bieber, Jos\u00e9 Berr\u00edos and Trey Yesavage.<\/p>\n<p>The Blue Jays will hope they can get something closer to the Corbin of old.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38987563\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2239223190.jpg\" alt=\"Patrick Corbin #46 of the Texas Rangers pitches during a game against the Houston Astros at Globe Life Field on September 7, 2025 in Arlington, Texas.\" class=\"wp-image-38987563\"  \/>Patrick Corbin of the Texas Rangers pitches during a game against the Houston Astros at Globe Life Field on September 7, 2025 in Arlington, Texas.
