According to Will Sammon of The Athletic, the New York Mets<\/a> and reliever Luke Jackson are in agreement on a minor league contract.<\/p>\n

Jackson, 34, spent six seasons with the Atlanta Braves<\/a> from 2017 to 2021, and then again in 2024. The journeyman reliever spent his 2025 season with three teams (Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, and Seattle Mariners<\/a>).<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear what role Luke Jackson may have on the Mets, but it\u2019s a good depth add.<\/p>\n

Luke Jackson\u2019s Career at a Glance<\/p>\n

Luke Jackson has a career 4.22 ERA in 409.1 total innings and 424 strikeouts in his 10-year MLB career.<\/p>\n

He came up with the Texas Rangers in 2015, and has yet to start a game in his MLB career.<\/p>\n

A former first-round MLB draft pick, Luke Jackson\u2019s best seasons came with the Atlanta Braves, as many Mets fans should know.<\/p>\n

MLBTradeRumors.com wa<\/a>s quick to the news after it was reported, and shared some insight on Jackson\u2019s relief ability:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 34-year-old peaked with 18 saves and 1.3 fWAR for the Braves in 2019. He has not been especially dominant in the years since, but he has managed to stick around thanks to his talent for inducing groundballs. Since that 2019 season, Jackson has never posted a groundball rate below 50%. His 51.1% mark since the start of 2023 puts him in the top 20% of qualified relievers.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Last Few Seasons Have Been Rocky for Luke Jackson<\/p>\n

In 2025, with the three teams mentioned, Jackson posted a collective earned run average of 4.06 over 51 innings, which isn\u2019t so so bad. However, in 2024, Jackson\u2019s ERA was north of 5.00.<\/p>\n

In Jackson\u2019s six seasons with the Atlanta Braves, he posted an ERA of 3.97 over 272 innings with 301 strikeouts.<\/p>\n

Again, it\u2019s sort of unclear to speculate what his role will be with New York, but one can assume a stint in the minors to start his campaign is what\u2019s next for Luke Jackson, and the Mets can decide from there what they want to do with the right-handed reliever.<\/p>\n
