On Saturday afternoon, the Boston Red Sox<\/a> will host the San Diego Padres<\/a> at Fenway Park.<\/p>\n

The Red Sox are coming off a 5-2 win over the Padres (on Friday).<\/p>\n

Boston Red Sox Make Triston Casas Announcement Before\"\"<\/p>\n

Before Saturday\u2019s showdown with San Diego, manager Alex Cora announce an update on Triston Casas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Underdog MLB wrote:<\/a> \u201cCora: Triston Casas\u2019 rib injury not as bad as initially feared; will begin swinging again on Monday.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old has yet to appear in a game this season.<\/p>\n

He is coming off a year where he batted .182 with three home runs, 11 RBI\u2019s and five runs.<\/p>\n

Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic wrote:<\/a> \u201cCasas is expected to begin swinging again on Monday. It wasn\u2019t as severe as they feared. Crawford has four innings of up-down Monday and could begin a rehab assignment next week Sandoval begins his rehab assignment tomorrow for Double A Portland on the road\u201d<\/p>\n

Casas Struggling To Stay Healthy After Promising Start\"\"<\/p>\n

During the 2023 season, Casas had a very promising season (at 23-years-old) where he batted .263 with 24 home runs and 65 RBI\u2019s<\/p>\n

That said, he has appeared in just 92 total games since that season.<\/p>\n

While there isn\u2019t a role for Casas right now, he\u2019s very important depth at 1B for Contreras, who\u2019s had his fair share of injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n

Red Sox Right Now<\/p>\n

The Red Sox went into the season with a lot of hope after reaching the 2025 MLB<\/a> playoffs.<\/p>\n

That said, they are off to a very slow start to the new year.<\/p>\n

Right now, the Red Sox are 2-5 in their first seven games.<\/p>\n
