Royals postpone Friday\u2019s series opener vs. Brewers due to inclement weather<\/p>\n

Fog rolled in during Wednesday\u2019s game at Kauffman Stadium when the Royals beat the Twins. Heavy rains, though, were expected ahead of Friday\u2019s game against the Brewers, and the game has officially been postponed until a doubleheader on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Kansas City Royals have postponed Friday\u2019s series opener<\/a> against the Milwaukee Brewers due to inclement weather.<\/p>\n

The game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader scheduled for Saturday at Kauffman Stadium. The first game is set for 1:10 p.m. The second game will follow at 6:10 p.m.<\/p>\n

Both teams completed batting practice on Friday before the official announcement of the postponement.<\/p>\n

A severe thunderstorm watch<\/a> was initiated for Kansas City and surrounding areas. The looming forecast includes a chance for high winds, hail and a possibility of a tornado.<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s game was initially scheduled for 6:45 p.m. Central. It will be moved to Saturday night as the second contest of the doubleheader. Saturday\u2019s originally scheduled game \u2014 slated for 3:10 p.m. \u2014 will be moved up as the first game, at 1:10 p.m.<\/p>\n

The Royals will start right-hander Luinder Avila in the first game on Saturday. He was recalled from Triple-A Omaha to make a spot start as Michael Wacha is battling an illness.<\/p>\n

Seth Lugo (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will start game 2. The Royals veteran right-hander tossed 6 and 1\/3 scoreless innings against the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Both games of the doubleheader will be broadcast on Royals.TV. Fans with tickets to Friday\u2019s game will be able to attend game 2 on Saturday. An exchange of tickets will not be required to attend the rescheduled contest.<\/p>\n

The Brewers will keep their same rotation in order. Right-hander Chad Patrick (0-0, 2.08 ERA) will oppose Avila. Fellow righty Brandon Sproat (0-0, 21.00 ERA) is set to pitch game 2 opposite Lugo.<\/p>\n

The Royals began their six-game homestand against the Minnesota Twins on Monday. The club took two of three games against their American League Central rivals.<\/p>\n
