The Boston Red Sox<\/a> are off to a bit of a sluggish start, but one week of the season isn\u2019t a big enough sample size in MLB to start making total assessments of a talented team\u2019s ability. However, you can certainly start to notice trends on who may or may not be a dependable hitter or pitcher.<\/p>\n

Boston is in the midst of a three-game set with the San Diego Padres<\/a>. The Red Sox are 2-5 this season, but could pick up their third victory shortly. With the slow start comes some rash reactions from the social world of MLB. In a recent piece for FanSided.com, writer Oliver Fox hits<\/a> the Red Sox with a strong reaction to the early-season woes.<\/p>\n

MLB Writer Calls Red Sox Offseason a Hoax

In a series of overreactions from the first week of the MLB season, Fox hits the Red Sox with this overreaction:<\/p>\n

\u201cOverreaction: The Red Sox offseason was all smoke\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRoman Anthony had a great Opening Day and has been awful since, only hitting a garbage-time, pinch-hit home run in the finale of a series sweep at the hands of the Houston Astros<\/a>. Ranger Suarez and Sonny Gray looked like they were haunted by the ghosts of Dustin May and Walker Buehler, and, save for Wilyer Abreu \u2014 who apparently is amazing now \u2014 all the World Baseball Classic ballers have been seriously cold.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s called an overreaction for a reason, but Fox may have a point. Pair the poor starts from Ranger Suarez and Sonny Gray with Caleb Durbin\u2019s atrocious start at the plate, it\u2019s easy to point to the moves the front office made this offseason as a reason for the disappointing start.<\/p>\n

Surely the Red Sox Will Turn it Around<\/p>\n

However, with all that being said, the Red Sox are a very talented team top to bottom, and have one of (if not the best) the best closers in baseball, and Garrett Crochet.<\/p>\n

Just as quickly as \u2018everything that can go wrong has gone wrong\u2019 happens, Boston can just as quickly start having things turn in its favor.<\/p>\n

One thing the Red Sox could consider is making a blockbuster trade. Craig Breslow has been very trade-friendly in recent seasons, and the infield still needs to be addressed.<\/p>\n
