The Rockies announced today that they have reinstated INF Blaine Crim and OF Zac Veen from the 10-day injured list and optioned them to Triple-A Albuquerque.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Rockies Club Information (@RockiesClubInfo) April 4, 2026<\/a>Zac Veen has had an up-and-down professional career so far to say the least.<\/p>\n He started impressively in spring training this year but was placed on the 10-day IL just before Opening Day.<\/p>\n He underwent a remarkable physical transformation during the offseason<\/a>, which left him nearly unrecognizable as he entered spring training. He gained over 40 pounds and demonstrated his new power by hitting not one<\/a>, but two walk-off home runs<\/a> against the White Sox and Padres.<\/p>\n He returned to the Isotopes lineup on Tuesday night, but struggled, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. He is working to regain his swing mechanics after his time away from the game. Since returning from the injured list, he is currently 1-for-11, with one double and five strikeouts.<\/p>\n Injuries have hindered what could have been a promising career so far, as Veen appeared in only 110 games between 2023 and 2024, demonstrating just enough ability to earn a spot on Colorado’s 40-man roster in 2024.<\/p>\n Veen made his Major League debut in 2025, but he struggled, collecting just four hits in 34 at-bats with a .118\/.189\/.235 slash line and striking out 14 times.<\/p>\n Despite having the speed and tools needed for success in the outfield, he may be facing a crucial year with the Rockies. If he doesn’t meet expectations, the team might consider looking for alternatives, particularly with several outfield prospects knocking on the door.<\/p>\n Blake Crim was also activated and sent to Albuquerque after dealing with a strained oblique for most of spring training. Crim was one of the few contenders for the first base position, which was ultimately won by TJ Rumfield after a standout spring training<\/a>.<\/p>\n Since returning to the lineup in Triple-A, Crim has gone 2-for-9 with two singles, one walk, and three strikeouts.<\/p>\n
