It’s hard to ask for a better start to the season for a starting rotation than what the New York Yankees<\/a> have had. Despite missing three key starters, the Yankees have a 1.16 team ERA this season with three shutouts. The rotation, led by Max Fried and Cam Schlittler, has been awesome.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the Yankees know that those results likely won’t stand long-term, and they need to get healthy soon. Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon and Clarke Schmidt are all missing due to injury, and Luis Gil was optioned before the season. The Yankees are always aggressive in the trade market and connected to stars around the MLB<\/a>, so they could pull the trigger on a deal to settle their concerns and gear up for a run in the postseason.<\/p>\n

FanSided’s Austin Owens has floated the idea that the Yankees could acquire Miami Marlins<\/a> star Sandy Alcantara this season. Alcantara, who won the Cy Young award in the National League in 2022, has been rumored in trade talks around the league for years, but this could finally be the season he gets dealt.<\/p>\n

After missing the entire 2024 season due to injury and having a down year in 2025, Alcantara is looking like himself again to start the 2026 season. In two starts so far this season, Alcantara has yet to allow a run and tossed a complete-game shutout in his last outing against the Chicago White Sox.<\/p>\n
