KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) \u2014 Milwaukee Brewers right fielder Sal Frelick exited the second game of Saturday\u2019s split doubleheader in the fourth inning with left side tightness.<\/p>\n
In his second at-bat, Frelick grimaced as he lined a single to center.<\/p>\n
After a lengthy discussion involving Brewers manager Pat Murphy and trainer Brad Epstein, Frelick left the game.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s gonna be fine,\u201d Murphy said after Milwaukee\u2019s 8-2 loss<\/a> to Kansas City in the second game. \u201cIt seems like it\u2019s more muscular than anything. Sal\u2019s so competitive he\u2019s not going to take himself out, so we had to force him out of there.\u201d<\/p>\n He was replaced by pinch runner Brandon Lockridge, who stole second and later stayed in the game to play left field as Blake Perkins moved to right field.<\/p>\n The injury had been bothering Frelick prior to the Brewers current road trip.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s been feeling it,\u201d said Murphy, who was noncommittal regarding Frelick\u2019s availability for Sunday\u2019s series finale. \u201cWe don\u2019t think it\u2019s oblique or anything like that. In testing he was fine.\u201d<\/p>\n Frelick singled and walked during the Brewers 5-2 victory<\/a> in the first game.<\/p>\n In eight games, Frelick is hitting .192 with a home run and two RBIs.<\/p>\n The 25-year-old is in his fourth season with Milwaukee, which selected him with the 15th overall pick in the 2021 amateur draft.<\/p>\n ___<\/p>\n
