ANAHEIM, Calif. —Jo Adell<\/a> made three home run-robbing catches, including a spectacular leaping grab while crashing into the seats in the ninth inning, and the Los Angeles Angels<\/a> held off the Seattle Mariners<\/a> 1-0 on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Adell leaped high above the yellow line on the wall to denyCal Raleigh<\/a>of a solo homer in the first and made a nearly identical catch to denyJosh Naylor<\/a>of a solo homer in the eighth.<\/p>\n

He brought the crowd to its feet in the ninth, whenJ.P. Crawford<\/a>led off with a drive toward the right-field corner, where Adell leaped to glove the ball, flipped over the wall and fell into the first row of seats before holding his glove up to present the catch, which was upheld after a replay review.<\/p>\n

“After the first one, the second one was kind of similar,” Adell said. “I didn’t know if I was having deja vu. Pretty crazy. Sometimes you’ve got to help on the other side of the ball, and I’m glad I did my job tonight.”<\/p>\n

According to ESPN Research, the only MLB player with more than three home run robberies over the course of the entire 2025 season wasFernando Tatis Jr<\/a>. of theSan Diego Padres<\/a>with four.Jordan Romano<\/a>, the Angels’ sixth pitcher, then retiredCole Young<\/a>on an infield popup and struck outLeo Rivas<\/a>for his third save.<\/p>\n

“It’s crazy,” Adell said. “The fans in right field got me ready to go out there. They were electric all night. That’s what I’m talking about.”<\/p>\n

Jack Kochanowicz<\/a> (1-0) allowed four hits and struck out seven over 5 innings, and Zach Neto<\/a> provided the game’s only run, walloping Seattle right-hander Emerson Hancock’s fourth pitch for a 443-foot homer in the first. Angels reliever Chase Silseth<\/a> escaped a two-on, no-out jam in the seventh.<\/p>\n

Silseth replaced Joey Lucchesi<\/a> with two on in the seventh and struck Rivas looking, Luke Raley<\/a> swinging and got Raleigh to ground out to second.<\/p>\n

Kochanowicz also escaped a first-and-third, two-out jam in the first by striking out Randy Arozarena<\/a> looking at an 88 mph slider and a two-on, two-out jam in the third by getting Arozarena to ground out.<\/p>\n

The Angels backed Kochanowicz with two other super plays, left fielder Josh Lowe<\/a> diving to catch Dominic Canzone’s flare in the fourth and second baseman Ozwald Peraza diving to stop Raley’s fifth-inning grounder up the middle and throwing to first.<\/p>\n

Hancock (1-1) allowed six hits over 6 innings and struck out five after throwing six no-hit innings in his March 29 against Cleveland.<\/p>\n
