He added a sacrifice fly to finish with three RBIs. (AP) \u2014 Garrett Mitchell matched a career high for RBIs with a two-run double and a three-run homer in the first three innings alone, and Milwaukee held on to beat Kansas City in the opener of their doubleheader.<\/p>\n<p>Salvador Perez\u2019s solo homer highlighted a six-run sixth inning as Kansas City beat Milwaukee to earn a doubleheader split.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>After Perez\u2019s second home run of the year snapped a 2-2 tie, the Royals chased Brandon Sproat (0-1) with three consecutive two-out singles. Tatis struck out swinging in his first four times up.<\/p>\n<p>Adrian Morejon (1-0) worked an inning, and Mason Miller struck out all three batters he faced for his third save.<\/p>\n<p>Trailing 2-1 in the eighth, Boston put runners on first and third with one out against Morejon. Walker followed later in the inning with an RBI single that brought home Yordan Alvarez for a 2-0 lead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>PITTSBURGH (AP) \u2014 Nick Yorke singled home Bryan Reynolds in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift Pittsburgh to a victory over Baltimore.<\/p>\n<p>Reynolds doubled against Ryan Helsley (0-1) with one out. Baltimore then intentionally walked Ryan O\u2019Hearn to bring up Yorke, who had entered as a pinch runner in the eighth. Yorke worked the count to 2-2 and fouled off a couple of pitches before Helsley delivered a 99 mph fastball that home plate umpire Dan Iassogna ruled a ball.<\/p>\n<p>Helsley tapped his head to initiate an ABS challenge but the Orioles were out of them after failing on a pair of challenges earlier in the game. Yorke took the next pitch and lined a shot over the head of Baltimore left fielder Dylan Beavers to lift the Pirates to their fourth straight victory.<\/p>\n<p>Reynolds had two of Pittsburgh\u2019s eight hits. After allowing back-to-back singles with two outs in the first, the Rangers didn\u2019t get another runner to second base against him. Braves pitcher Bryce Elder picked it up and threw wildly to first, allowing Gabriel Moreno and Nolan Arenado to score.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Soroka (2-0) allowed one run in five innings for the Diamondbacks. He gave up four hits and one run. He threw 91 pitches in walking three and striking out three.<\/p>\n<p>Taylor Clarke, Jonathan Lo\u00e1isaga, Juan Morillo and Paul Sewald each pitched a 1-2-3 relief inning, with Sewald picking up his third save.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Elder (1-1) still hasn\u2019t allowed an earned run this season in 13 innings, but he took the loss on Saturday because of his own error. Mike Yastrzemski led off with a walk, advanced to second on an infield out and scored on Dominic Smith\u2019s two-out single to left.<\/p>\n<p>Neither team had a runner after the fifth inning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Giancarlo Stanton stole his first base in the regular season since 2020 and had a go-ahead, two-run single to help New York beat Miami for its first 7-1 start in seven seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Stanton snapped a 6-6 tie in the eighth with a clean single to left field off Michael Petersen (1-1) after the reliever walked three. In the seventh, Stanton swiped second for his first steal in a non-playoff game since Aug. 3, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The Yankees won in their final at-bat for the first time this year after Javier Sanoja hit a tying two-run double off Camilo Doval in the eighth.
