The lefty was wild to start with walks to the first two batters, followed by a throwing error on a double steal that allowed one run to score. A single brought in the second run of the inning, though mixed in with all that chaos De León did strike out the side. He also gave up solo runs in each of the third and fourth innings. His final pitching line was 4 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K. He allowed three stolen bases and had a pitch clock violation.

After De León exited the game, the Yard Goats did not have another baserunner. Ryan Long, Jeisson Cabrera, and Zane Barnhart combined to pitch four innings with no hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts.

The Baysox offense had eight hits in the game, twice as many as Hartford. Too bad they don’t count that in the result. Brandon Butterworth had three singles as the leadoff batter, while Thomas Sosa smacked two doubles and drove in both Baysox runs. Tavian Josenberger and Anderson De Los Santos also doubled.

High-A: Frederick Keys 7, Hub City Spartanburgers (TEX) 6

The Keys took an early lead with a four-run second inning. A single by Leandro Arias followed by a walk to Colin Yeaman and Braydon Smith set the table for Ryan Stafford, who singled in two. After a double steal by Smith and Stafford, Vance Honeycutt singled in another run. The last run of the inning came in on a sac fly from RJ Austin. Victor Figueroa homered in the fourth to give the Keys a 5-0 lead.

JT Quinn, last year’s Competitive Balance pick at #69, had a solid start. He pitched 4.1 innings with three hits and two walks. He struck out six. He exited the game with one out in the fifth after walking the final batter he faced. Relief pitcher Juan Rojas allowed that run to score, along with four of his own.

The Keys retook the lead in the seventh. Stafford singled and scored on a triple from Austin. Austin came in on a single from Braylin Tavera.

Nate George, Ike Irish, and Wehiwa Aloy were all out the lineup, which is a bummer. This is especially true for Irish because the Spartanburgers had a pitcher in the game named Ireland.

Honeycutt struck out three times.

Low-A: Salem RidgeYaks (BOS) 5, Delmarva Shorebirds 3

First of all, RIDGE YAKS? This team was called the Salem Red Sox before 2026, and while that is kind of boring, RidgeYaks seems to be a bit far in the other direction.

Starting pitcher Esteban Mejia struggled with control but had a decent season debut. He allowed three runs, but just one was earned after the Shorebirds committed three errors in a single inning. He struck out six and allowed just one hit. He walked three and threw one wild pitch. Also, one of those three errors was a throwing error by Mejia. Relief pitcher Brayan Orrantia allowed the other two runs.

After scoring 11 runs on Friday, the Shorebirds’ offense was almost non-existent. They did not have their first hit until the seventh inning, a DJ Layton double. And they scored all three of their runs in the ninth inning. All three were unearned. After a Cobb Hightower leadoff double, Edwin Amparo walked with one out. Layton hit a ball to third base that might have been a game-ending double play, except it went for an error to load the bases. After a strikeout, Joshua Liranzo worked a bases-loaded walk.

Maikol Hernández singled in two more runs, but Juan Ortega flew out to end the game. Too little, too late.

Norfolk @ Memphis Game 1, 2:05. Starter: Levi WellsNorfolk @ Memphis Game 2. Starter: TBDChesapeake: OFFFrederick @ Hub City, 2:05.
