{"id":665402,"date":"2026-04-05T23:09:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-05T23:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/665402\/"},"modified":"2026-04-05T23:09:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-05T23:09:16","slug":"dodgers-complete-sweep-over-nationals-with-comeback-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/665402\/","title":{"rendered":"Dodgers Complete Sweep Over Nationals With Comeback Win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Los Angeles Dodgers earned a come from behind victory in their series finale against the Washington Nationals on Sunday, 7-6.<\/p>\n<p>A rain delay postponed the game by a couple of hours, pushing first pitch to 12:45 p.m. PT from the original time of 10:05 a.m. PT.<\/p>\n<p>Roki Sasaki got the nod on the mound for his second start of the season Sunday, but struggled after a strong showing in the first two innings. He ended the game with five strikeouts through five innings, but allowed six runs on five hits and three walks.<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers struck first through Shohei Ohtani, who hit his second homer of the season and the series in the top of the third\u2014a 438-foot solo homer to center field. Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>Dalton Rushing got the start Sunday to give everyday catcher Will Smith a rest day ahead of LA\u2019s next series against the Blue Jays, and capitalized on a hanging sweeper for his first home run of the campaign to make the score 6-3.<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers got a rally going in the top of the eighth inning, loading the bases with no outs, and Santiago Espinal delivered for them. The utility infielder lined a single to center to score two runs and cut the deficit to one.<\/p>\n<p>Smith came in to pinch hit for Rushing the following at-bat and drew a four-pitch walk to load the bases again. Kyle Tucker pinch hit for Alex Freeland next, and drove in the tying run with a groundout. Ohtani then drove in the go-ahead run with a deep sacrifice fly to left field.<\/p>\n<p>Teoscar Hernandez tagged the Nationals for one more in the top of the ninth, leading off the inning with a solo home run to center field.<\/p>\n<p>Edwin Diaz came in for the Dodgers in the ninth and did as he does best, earning his third save of the season in as many attempts.<\/p>\n<p>With their win, the Dodgers have a 7-2 record and will travel to Toronto for their next series against the Blue Jays.
