The Los Angeles Dodgers are playing hardball with their most loyal fans<\/a>, and this time, the boys in blue are looking more like corporate bullies.<\/p>\n

Errol Segal, the 81-year-old die-hard fan who has held season tickets for a staggering 50 years, found himself in the ultimate pickle when the team essentially told him his money was good, but his flip phone wasn\u2019t<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite half a century of loyalty \u2014 long before the era of QR codes<\/a> \u2014 the Dodgers flat-out refused to provide Segal with paper tickets for the 2026 season, effectively shutting him out of games.<\/p>\n

Holding up a relic of a flip phone that definitely doesn\u2019t support the MLB Ballpark app, Segal told local reporters that he doesn\u2019t have an iPhone. In fact, he doesn\u2019t know how to use a computer, either.<\/p>\n

An iron-fisted \u201cdigital-only\u201d policy seems to the the issue \u2014 which the Dodgers refused to waive even after Segal offered to pay extra for the privilege of a paper ticket.<\/p>\n

Segal uses an old phone that doesn\u2019t support the MLB Ballpark app.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I had the tickets one year, five years, 10 years, that\u2019s another story,\u201d Segal told a local outlet. \u201cFifty years I\u2019ve had these tickets. They threw me under the bus.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the first time in decades, the devoted fan is considering skipping games entirely \u2014 even after being offered a refund for his seats.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018That\u2019s not fair,’\u201d Segal recalled, rejecting the team\u2019s buyback offer.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Dodgers, currently valued at an estimated $7.8 billion to $8 billion, apparently couldn\u2019t accommodate a man who has supported them through thick and thin. The team argues that digital ticketing prevents scalping and fraud.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers refused to provide Segal with paper tickets, effectively shutting him out of games.<\/p>\n

The devoted fan is considering skipping games entirely.<\/p>\n

While digital ticketing has become the norm across sports, Segal\u2019s story highlights the downside of an all-tech approach.<\/p>\n

The longtime South LA business owner said he was still able to purchase a paper ticket at the stadium for a single game, but the team still won\u2019t provide printed tickets for the full season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

As the story made the rounds on social media, some commentators argued the solution is simple: adapt. <\/p>\n

\u201cWill someone show this poor man how to store and use digital tickets? It\u2019s infinitely easier than carrying paper tix,\u201d Jason Boyce said on X.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers have not publicly indicated whether they\u2019ll make an exception for Segal, leaving the octogenarian fan in limbo.<\/p>\n
