Konnor Griffin hasn’t had a perfect start to his MLB career with the Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But the shortstop phenom is also keeping some Hall of Fame company in the early going.<\/p>\n

Griffin has reached base in his first three games played in the major leagues while still a teenager (he doesn’t turn 20 until later this month).<\/p>\n

The last three teenagers to reach base in each of their first three games all made the Hall of Fame, according to Pirates radio host Dan Zangrilli<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Adrian Beltre accomplished the feat in 1998.<\/p>\n

Andruw Jones made it happen in 1996.<\/p>\n

And Ivan ‘Pudge’ Rodriguez did it in 1991.<\/p>\n

The reality is that this stat is just a tad misleading, even though it’s also exciting.<\/p>\n

Griffin doubled in his first at bat of his MLB career, and he also worked a walk in that debut.<\/p>\n

In his second game, he went 0-for-3 but was hit by a pitch.<\/p>\n

And on Sunday, Griffin was 0-for-3 again, this time working a walk.<\/p>\n

That makes him 1-for-9 through his first three games to go with two walks and an HBP.<\/p>\n

It’s not exactly the flashy start some might’ve hoped for from Griffin, especially after that debut double.<\/p>\n

Still, he’s got some of the best talent of any young player in baseball. He should figure it out sooner rather than later, and he’s already got a good omen on his side.<\/p>\n
