Chase Burns<\/p>\n
In his first start of the year, Burns picked up a win as he allowed just one hit in 5.0 shutout innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was his first start since he went on the injured list last August and it looked like he hadn\u2019t skipped a beat.<\/p>\n
In his 48.1 innings in the big leagues he\u2019s had some big splits. He\u2019s dominated right-handed hitters. They don\u2019t get hits, they don\u2019t walk, they strike out a ton, and they hit for no power. Left-handed hitters hit for a solidish average given the current way the league plays, they walk a lot, strike out a lot, and they hit for plenty of power against him.<\/p>\n

Jack Leiter<\/p>\n
After struggling in limited action as a rookie in 2024, Jack Leiter has been much better in the 20 starts he\u2019s made since, posting a 3.82 ERA in that span. He struck out eight batters in 6.0 innings last week against Baltimore in his first start of the year while giving up just two runs and walking one batter.<\/p>\n
Like Burns, Leiter has shown splits in his career. But his splits are reverse ones. Right-handed hitters hit for a high average and walk at a solid rate while also hitting for solid power. Left-handed hitters walk at a high rate and hit for ok-ish power when they do get hits, but they have not found too many hits against Leiter.<\/p>\n
I included his 2026 pitch usage for the spring and regular season because he\u2019s added a cutter this year and that felt like valuable information.<\/p>\n
