Here’s what the Dodgers are expecting in this week’s World Series rematch against the Blue Jays.<\/p>\n

And they\u2019re ready for it.<\/p>\n The Dodgers, behind superstar Shohei Ohtani and World Series hero Miguel Rojas, return to Rogers Centre for the first time since helping Los Angeles rip a World Series title away from the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a>\u00a0last fall, and with a\u00a0loaded rematch on tap<\/a>, a\u00a0future Hall of Famer starting<\/a>\u00a0for Toronto, and\u00a0Game 7 wounds still fresh, this feels like the most charged regular-season game in Blue Jays history.<\/p>\n Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Toronto Blue Jays Today: World Series Rematch<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m expecting, for the first time in my life, to get booed when I play there,\u201d Rojas told MLB<\/a>.com\u2019s Sonja Chen and Keegan Matheson. Hard to blame him. Rojas hit a\u00a0game-tying homer in the ninth inning<\/a>\u00a0of Game 7 last November \u2014 the kind of moment that made him a Dodgers legend and a Toronto villain in the same swing.<\/p>\n The Dodgers went on to win 5-4 in 11 innings at Rogers Centre, clinching\u00a0back-to-back championships\u00a0while confetti rained on the Blue Jays\u2019 home floor.<\/p>\n He\u2019s not the only one bracing for it. Dodgers starter Justin Wrobleski, who faced Toronto as a reliever in the World Series, put it bluntly to Reuters: \u201cThey\u2019re going to boo me<\/a>, and it\u2019s going to be really awesome. If I were a Toronto fan, I probably wouldn\u2019t like me either.\u201d<\/p>\n Toronto Blue Jays Roll Out Max Scherzer vs. Dodgers<\/p>\n The Blue Jays aren\u2019t treating this like just another early-April series, even if manager John Schneider insists otherwise. \u201cI was joking with the guys that it\u2019s not a three-game rematch of the World Series, it\u2019s just three games you\u2019ve got to cover and try to win,\u201d Schneider told MLB.com.<\/p>\n But Toronto is sending its future Hall of Fame arm to the mound for Game 1. Max Scherzer, 41, takes the ball Monday night carrying a 1-0 record and 1.50 ERA<\/a>\u00a0through his first start of 2026.<\/p>\n He was the Blue Jays\u2019 Game 7 starter on November 1, allowing just one run and four hits over 4 1\/3 innings before the bullpen couldn\u2019t hold it. In 19 career games against the Dodgers, Scherzer owns a\u00a02.38 ERA across 17 starts<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kevin Gausman, Tuesday\u2019s starter, captured the mood best. \u201cIt feels like we never left, to be honest. It feels like we\u2019re getting ready for Game 8,\u201d Gausman said\u00a0prior to his Opening Day start<\/a>, per MLB.com.<\/p>\n The pitching matchups only get bigger from there \u2014 Yoshinobu Yamamoto faces Gausman on Tuesday, and Shohei Ohtani goes head-to-head with\u00a0offseason addition Dylan Cease<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday.<\/p>\n Toronto Blue Jays & Los Angeles Dodgers 2026 Outlook<\/p>\n Both rosters look different from October. The Dodgers added right fielder Kyle Tucker \u2014 who was\u00a0heavily pursued by the Blue Jays in free agency, per MLB.com \u2014 and closer Edwin Diaz to shore up last year\u2019s weaknesses. That\u2019s not too shabby, adding to a lineup that features Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman. The Dodgers won\u2019t have Mookie Betts, though, who landed on the IL Sunday with a right oblique strain<\/a>.<\/p>\n Toronto, meanwhile, moved on from Bo Bichette, whose three-run blast off Ohtani in Game 7 was supposed to be the defining swing of the franchise\u2019s season. Kazuma Okamoto has stepped into the lineup, and with Andres Gimenez sliding to shortstop full-time, the Blue Jays\u2019 infield defense is significantly better<\/a>. The Blue Jays enter the series on a four-game losing streak after getting swept in Chicago by the White Sox<\/a>, making a statement series against L.A. even more urgent.<\/p>\n Blue Jays\u2019 president Mark Shapiro summed up what the whole city is feeling, telling MLB.com: \u201cI think it will be impossible to not look through a windshield with some mixed emotions when they come here.\u201d<\/p>\n This is April baseball that feels like October.
