The New York Yankees saw the system first-hand in their three-game series against the Marlins at Yankee Stadium. They spoke to The Athletic about the process of calling a game and the value that calling pitches from the dugout takes away from Ram\u00edrez. However, Kirschner detailed how Ram\u00edrez’s defensive stats have been a hindrance to the Marlins, so this new system could serve to help him.<\/p>\n
Rod\u00f3n still was not convinced.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can\u2019t script when you\u2019re in Game 3 of the ALCS or Game 2 of the World Series,\u201d Rod\u00f3n said, per Kirschner. \u201cYou\u2019re going to get the best from everybody. The computer is not going to be able to tell you everything in those moments. Over the regular season, sure. But it separates itself when you get to the games that really matter. …”<\/p>\n
The implementation of data continues to change how coaches and players approach their processes, and it remains to be seen whether what the Marlins and Rockies are doing will catch on. At the very least, the Yankees are at least one team that isn’t open to it.<\/p>\n
