{"id":666994,"date":"2026-04-06T19:59:34","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T19:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/666994\/"},"modified":"2026-04-06T19:59:34","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T19:59:34","slug":"white-sox-swipe-26-year-old-former-2nd-round-pick-from-guardians-in-roster-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/666994\/","title":{"rendered":"White Sox swipe 26-year old former 2nd-round pick from Guardians in roster move"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/chicago-white-sox\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago White Sox<\/a> have picked up a new left-handed pitcher.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe adding to the intrigue around the move: He comes aboard from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/cleveland-guardians\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cleveland Guardians<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The newest member of the ChiSox is Doug Nikhazy, who they claimed off waivers after the Guardians designated him for assignment last week. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/tim_stebbins\/status\/2041227171838967861\" rel=\"nofollow\">MLB.com&#8217;s Tim Stebbins reported<\/a> the news on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The Guardians couldn&#8217;t quite find the ideal use for Nikhazy, and now the White Sox will see if they can make it work.<\/p>\n<p>Nikhazy is a 26-year old lefty pitcher who was a second-round pick out of Ole Miss in the 2021 MLB Draft.<\/p>\n<p>He has made it to the majors for only two outings with the Guardians to this point, with a 13.50 ERA.<\/p>\n<p>MORE:\u00a0<a target=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/new-york-yankees\/news\/yankees-outfielder-battled-ostrich-11-plate-spaghetti-eating-contest\/db7ab397cfd963fbafd93a72\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Yankees outfielder once battled ostrich in 11-plate spaghetti-eating contest<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nikhazy made 21 appearances at Triple-A Columbus in 2025 with a 5.02 ERA.<\/p>\n<p>He had been much better at Triple-A (2.87 ERA) and Double-A (3.17 ERA) in 2024, so another team could look at that part of his track record and think he may be worth giving a chance to.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Picking up a left-handed pitcher who might still be approaching his prime and has already reached the big leagues was probably a relatively simple move for the White Sox.
