If getting swept over the weekend by the Pittsburgh Pirates<\/a> wasn’t bad enough, the Baltimore Orioles<\/a> will also be without one of their left-handed relievers for some time. According to the Orioles on X, left-handed pitcher Dietrich Enns was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left foot infection.<\/p>\n

The move is retroactive to April 4, and right-hander Brandon Young will take Enns’ place on the active roster after getting called up from Triple-A Norfolk. The 27-year-old right-hander made one start in Norfolk and pitched five innings, while allowing five hits, walking none, and striking out four.<\/p>\n

Young did pitch for the Orioles last season, but did not perform well. In 12 starts, Young went 1-7 with a 6.24 ERA and had 22 walks in 57.2 innings. Young will start Monday night’s game versus the Chicago White Sox<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Enns, 34, is now the sixth Orioles relief pitcher to be placed on the\u00a0injured list<\/a>, with two occupying spots on the 60-day injured list. Enns had a 4.15 ERA in three games before the left foot infection sidelined him.<\/p>\n

Enns is the Orioles’ second left-handed reliever to be placed on the injured list, with Keegan Akin (left groin strain) being the other. Akin\u2019s status to return remains to be determined.<\/p>\n

Right-handers Yaramil Hiradlo (right shoulder inflammation) and Andrew Kittredge (right shoulder inflammation) are questionable on their returns, with Kittredge possibly returning in mid-April. Right-handers Felix Bautista (right shoulder surgery) and Colin Shelby (right shoulder inflammation) are out for an extended period of time.<\/p>\n
