Kodai Senga signed a five-year, $75 million contract before pitching in MLB, and carries a flat 3.00 ERA over 54 total starts. The only issue surrounding Senga has been his injury status, but again, for now at least, he appears to be healthy.

As for the prospect haul that Ryan Shea proposes the Mets would get in return, that’s what makes this mock trade so enticing, because JoJo Parker and Ricky Tiedemann project to be MLB stars in the future.

GettyKodai Senga of the New York Mets could be on the move in a trade to this AL East team.

More MLB on Heavy: Craig Counsell Reveals Seiya Suzuki Season Debut Date Amid Knee Sprain

Mets’ 2026 Rotation Outlook

The MLB is in full swing, so sorry Mets fans, trade rumors are going to come pouring in due to New York’s trade habits.

Kodai Senga is currently an option in the Mets rotation, so for now, they don’t have any reason to trade him.

Is that subject to change in the future? Absolutely.

Here is why Shea believes it could be a good move for the Mets:

“The Mets would make this trade because, especially if they become sellers at the trade deadline, they can turn a short-term ace into multiple high-upside prospects to rebuild or restock their farm system. By trading Kodai Senga, they acquire Ricky Tiedemann, JoJo Parker, and Johnny King, a mix of top pitching and positional talent with future MLB and fantasy impact.”

Heavy on Mets has non-stop Mets coverage during the 2026 season.
