(KCTV) &#8211; As the Kansas City Royals arrived in Cleveland this week for a three-game series with the Guardians, they were joined by Michael Massey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Royals second baseman rejoined the team Monday after being activated from the injured list, the club announced. The 28-year-old who could see time in the outfield this season opened the season with the Omaha Storm Chasers as he dealt with a left calf strain suffered during Spring Training.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In a corresponding move, the Royals optioned utility man Nick Loftin to Triple-A. Loftin played in four of the first nine games for the Royals, going 2-for-9 at the plate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Massey rejoins the MLB club following a disappointing 2025 season for Kansas City. Last year, he had a .244 batting average and a career-worst on-base and slugging percentage during 77 games with the big-league team. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Massey was not in the starting lineup for Monday night\u2019s series-opener against the Guardians.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Royals are 4-5 through the first week and a half of the 2026 season.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCTV.
