{"id":667390,"date":"2026-04-07T01:03:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T01:03:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/667390\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T01:03:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T01:03:19","slug":"zack-wheeler-rehab-update-phillies-return-timeline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/667390\/","title":{"rendered":"Zack Wheeler Rehab Update: Phillies Return Timeline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Philadelphia Phillies\u00a0starting pitcher Zack Wheeler will make at least one more rehab start before returning to the rotation,\u00a0the team announced on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Wheeler\u2019s next start will be in\u00a0Allentown on Wednesday as he continues to work back from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery.<\/p>\n<p>The Phillies have their probable pitching rotation\u00a0listed up to April 15, but that can change.\u00a0 The team has an off day on Thursday, April 16, and faces the Atlanta Braves on Friday, April 17, which could be a potential option for Wheeler to make his 2026 MLB debut.<\/p>\n<p>Rob Thomson Provides Timeline for Wheeler\u2019s Return<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/phillies\/news\/zack-wheeler-makes-second-rehab-start-with-lehigh-valley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">From Paul Casella of Phillies.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s still [like] Spring Training for him,\u201d Thomson said. \u201cThat\u2019s not gonna be his last [rehab] outing. \u2026 There\u2019s at least one more after that. But I\u2019m expecting the velo to go up as he gets more pitches under his belt and more innings under his belt, and then go up again when the adrenaline really hits when he gets here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The veteran right-hander was the Phillies Opening Day pitcher in 2024 and 2025, but opened this season on the IL. He made a rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, allowing five runs over three innings, giving up four hits, and striking out one.<\/p>\n<p>The Phillies\u2019 starting rotation has been a strength of the team so far this season, even without Wheeler.
