Over the offseason, the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> were one of the centers of trade talks and rumors, specifically regarding their All-Star second baseman, Ketel Marte. However, any trade proposals involving Marte should probably be shelved from now on.<\/p>\n

FanSided\u2019s Zachary Rotman<\/a> believes so as well, as he notes that Marte has hit an MLB milestone: 10 years in the big leagues, and his past five with Arizona, giving him his 10-5 rights<\/a>. With that, he receives something clubs hate when players have: a no-trade clause.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt certain points of the 2025 offseason, it felt as if the Arizona Diamondbacks were going to trade Ketel Marte. Now, a deal never materialized, but the fact that he was as prevalent in rumors as he was, suggested his future in Arizona was far from secure. Well, now that Marte has earned a full no-trade clause, he won’t be going anywhere anytime soon unless he wants to leave\u2026Even if the Diamondbacks decide they’d like to trade him, as long as Marte remains in an Arizona uniform, they’ll need his approval before shipping him off,\u201d Rotman wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

So far this season, Marte is slashing .184\/.262\/.316\/.578 with two doubles, a home run, and three RBI in 10 games. Keep in mind, it\u2019s only the beginning of the season, and for the past two he was an All-Star and Silver Slugger.<\/p>\n

The Diamondbacks are currently 5-5 and second in the NL West, so they honestly are still good enough to be contenders. The only problem is if they want to make big changes, they have to keep in mind they have Marte\u2019s six-year, $116.5 million contract<\/a> on the books.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, they stay contenders for the rest of Marte\u2019s contract, so they can at least make good on the fact they can\u2019t trade him unless he wants to be.<\/p>\n
