The Cleveland Guardians<\/a> are bringing a 24-year old infielder onto the roster.<\/p>\n

It could signal an injury concern for a more veteran player, though.<\/p>\n

The roster move that’s known about for sure on Monday night is this, via Guardians Prospective: Juan Brito is being promoted to MLB from Triple-A Columbus.<\/p>\n

The point of concern is likely Gabriel Arias, who was pinch-run for partway through Monday’s game against the Royals.<\/p>\n

During the game, Daniel Schneeman pinch-ran and took over at second base, while Brayan Rocchio moved over to shortstop.<\/p>\n

Brito can play both those spots.<\/p>\n

The 24-year old Brito, from the Dominican Republic, will make his MLB debut when he gets into a game.<\/p>\n

He’s been a really good minor league ballplayer and at times a well-regarded prospect.<\/p>\n

Soon enough, he’ll get a chance to finally play for the Guardians.<\/p>\n

This season at Columbus, Brito is 11-for-35 to start the campaign, a .314 average with an .862 OPS that includes five doubles.<\/p>\n

His career minor league OPS is .832.<\/p>\n

Brito gets the call before Travis Bazzana in part because Brito is already on the 40-man roster.<\/p>\n

He also has earned this chance for himself, and if he swings it well enough, he might get a chance to stick around.<\/p>\n
