Jose Ramirez became the Cleveland Guardians’ all-time leader in games played after stepping onto the field for the 1,620th time during Monday’s matchup against the Kansas City Royals.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old vet has only played with the Guardians<\/a> throughout his stellar 14-year career after debuting in 2013. Since then, Ramirez<\/a> became a seven-time All-Star, six-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and the franchise’s all-time leader in extra-base hits and intentional walks.<\/p>\n

The previous record was held Terry Turner, which was set in 1918 with his 1,619th game. Ramirez is now the only active player in all of baseball to lead his respective franchise in games played.<\/p>\n

He needs 52 home runs to surpass Jim Thome<\/a> (337) for most all-time, 130 RBI to surpass Earl Averill, and is second all-time in steals (289) behind the legendary speedster Kenny Lofton (452).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Heading into this year, Ramirez has gone five straight seasons hitting .265 or better with at least 24 home runs, 80 RBI, and 20 stolen bases. He set a career high in stolen bases last year with 44 and has two through 10 games this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
