Baseball is known as a summer sport, so it’s not often that a game gets rescheduled due to the cold without any real concern about other forms of precipitation. Yet this is what is happening this week for several teams around the league <\/a>scheduled to play outdoors in the Midwest\/Northeast<\/a>. Among those teams are the Baltimore Orioles, who are visiting the Chicago White Sox this week<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Orioles and White Sox were originally scheduled to play Tuesday at 6:40 pm CST, but will now begin the game at 2:10 pm CST<\/a>. The actual temperature between 2:10 and 6:40 is not that different from the forecast, which predicts the temperature to hold at 34-35 degrees for most of the day. However, with sunset at around 7:20, the “real feel” drops from the 30s into the 20s. <\/p>\n

Orioles Tuesday game against the White Sox has been rescheduled from 6:40 PM CST to 2:10 PM CST<\/p>\n

Playing in 35 degrees in the sun won’t feel great, but it will feel better than playing in 25 degrees in the dark. That goes for fans and players alike. Fortunately, the temperature should pick back up for their next game on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The White Sox announced the rescheduling 24 hours in advance<\/a> to give fans time to adjust their plans and informed everyone that tickets to the previously scheduled 6:40 game will still be valid for the 2:10 game. If you’re someone with a job that can’t go to a 2:10 game on a Tuesday, it doesn’t appear that there will be any sort of refund. <\/p>\n

For the Orioles’ part, this will be their fifth afternoon game in six games, which is odd, but at least they should be used to fighting the sun.
