The catcher was the 2025 Florida State League MVP and led the league in nearly every offensive category except batting average – where he finished 2nd in the league – and triples. Currently rated as the Reds #1 prospect, the 20-year-old began the season by going 2-7 (.286) with two doubles and two walks for the Dragons in their first two games of the season (the third game was rained out).

This article was first sent out to those who support the site over on Patreon. You were just the DH the first year and then you the rib injury (in 2024). It kind of kept you off the field and then you jumped in and you played the full season at Daytona and then you went to Arizona. How did that kind of wear on your body a little bit compared to the previous years?

Yeah. It’s kind of tough because like this is the game everybody like want to play, you know? Yeah. Like you said, I got hurt to first season and uh yeah, it was really tough. Was really tough, but I learned from it. I was working hard, so hard, so hard with my rehab coach and then yeah, when I get here in the USA, I just tried to, you know, to keep my head down and get out there and have fun.

I saw that you were working with Salvador Perez out in spring training, right before spring training. What did you learn from him? What did you pick up?

Yeah, he gave me a lot of advice about life, about baseball, but like he says always, he always told me like just play the game the right way and just have fun, you know. I never, never lose that, you know. Don’t forget about having fun in the game. Yeah, we was training together in Miami for like two, three weeks. But yeah, he gave me a lot of advice on life, too.

Who had set that up? Was that something that you guys did through your agents or how did that come about?

Yeah. Was my agent, also with the catching coach Alvarez. Yeah. He text me and yeah.

Just looking back on last season, what do you think that you learned? And what you took from that.

I mean it was a really good season like everybody knows and just do my thing, you know. A big part was off the field, like working on my mobility, like my preparation, my recovery you know was a lot of challenge but we did it.

Looking forward to this year is there anything specific that you’re looking to you know take that next step on in your game?

I’m just going to try and be healthy and playing the game and like I said, having fun with it.

On Monday afternoon the Cincinnati Reds High-A affiliate the Dayton Dragons held their media day to introduce the…

[2400
28321,5,535,50,4259,4,536
0":"post-668526","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-cincinnati-reds","8":"tag-alfredo-duno","9":"tag-baseball","10":"tag-cincinnati","11":"tag-cincinnati-reds","12":"tag-cincinnatireds","13":"tag-mlb","14":"tag-reds
["GET
