And the problem for the rest of MLB is that their top prospect was loud. Dalton Rushing went 4-for-4 with two home runs and reached base in all five plate appearances, the first four-hit game of his MLB career. That’s not a cute rookie flash. That’s immediate value in a lineup that already has no business being this deep.

MORE: Ranking the 15 teams with the best chance to win the NBA Finals

Dodgers’ Power Surge Continues

Apr 6, 2026; Toronto, Ontario, CAN; Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing (68) hits a single against the Toronto Blue Jays during the fifth inning at Rogers Centre. Mandatory Credit: Nick Turchiaro-Imagn Images

Rushing accounted for two of the Dodgers’ five homers, and the rest of the power show was just a typical Dodgers flex—Teoscar Hernández went deep and drove in four, Freddie Freeman homered and drove in three, and Shohei Ohtani added a homer as well. The Dodgers have won four straight, and they’ve scored more than seven runs in each of those games.

Rushing Is More Than Just Hot—He Fits

Rushing isn’t just hitting… he’s fitting. See what I did there.

The Dodgers got on base, ran up counts, and punished mistakes the entire game. Rushing hit his first homer in the third, then came back later and did it again, because Toronto just couldn’t stop the bleeding.

Scherzer Exit Changes the Game—But Not the Outcome

And yes, Toronto was compromised—Max Scherzer exited after two innings with forearm tendinitis, which is the worst two-word combo for pitchers outside Tommy John. But the Dodgers didn’t win because Scherzer left. They won because the Jays had no answers, even before it got out of hand.

Justin Wrobleski gave the Dodgers five innings and limited the damage after a shaky first, which is all you need when your offense is doing the heavy lifting.

Apr 6, 2026; Toronto, Ontario, CAN; Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing (68) celebrates hitting a home run against the Toronto Blue Jays during the eighth inning at Rogers Centre.
