PITTSBURGH \u2014 German Marquez combined with two relievers on a seven-hit shutout for his first win with San Diego, and the Padres ended the Pittsburgh Pirates\u2019 five-game winning streak with a 5-0 victory Monday night.<\/p>\n
Nick Castellanos hit the first of San Diego\u2019s four RBI doubles. Jackson Merrill, Jake Cronenworth and Ramon Laureano each had a run-scoring double as well to help the Padres win their third straight.<\/p>\n
Marquez (1-1) pitched five innings, allowing six hits and one walk on 92 pitches. He struck out four.<\/p>\n
Ron Marinaccio and David Morgan each worked two innings to finish San Diego\u2019s second shutout this season.<\/p>\n
Manny Machado scored a run and knocked in another with a groundout. Freddy Fermin scored twice, and Xander Bogaerts had two hits and a walk.<\/p>\n
Pirates rookie starter Bubba Chandler (0-1) threw 83 pitches over 4\u2022 innings. He gave up three runs, five hits and four walks.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m gonna fix it,clean it up,\u201d Chandler said of his outing. \u201cI\u2019ve got five more days until I throw again. It won\u2019t happen again. Not competing in the zone is eating at me. I am setting the team up for failure with my performance on the field.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pittsburgh went 1 for 10 with runners in scoring position and lost at home for the first time this season. Brandon Lowe and Bryan Reynolds each walked to open the bottom of the eighth. But \u200bRyan O\u2019Hearn grounded into a double play, and Marcell Ozuna grounded out to short.<\/p>\n
