Alas, an internal club meeting determined it was best to keep things as they are for now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t view this weather as being any type of unprecedented cold for April,\u201d the source said, adding that it was the Yankees\u2019 choice to leave the schedule as is. \u201cWe didn\u2019t feel like we were getting into temperatures that were dangerous for fans or anything like that. It\u2019s April in New York. This happens often. It happened last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/04\/06\/yankees-confident-bottom-of-order-begin-produce-aaron-boone-jazz-chilsholm-jr-ryan-mcmahon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Tuesday\u2019s series-opener against the visiting Athletics<\/a> scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m., the first-pitch temperature was expected to be about 42 degrees, depending on one\u2019s preferred weather-tracking service. The forecasted \u201cfeels-like\u201d temp, meanwhile, was about 28 degrees, and conditions were only supposed to get colder throughout the evening.<\/p>\n<p>According to the source, the Yankees have played \u201cupwards of a dozen games the last couple of years where temperatures were similar, if not worse\u201d than what was expected on Tuesday night. They said that in 2025, the team played five home games with first-pitch temperatures of 43 degrees and below, as well as four such games on the road. The lowest first-pitch temperature the Bombers began playing at last year was 40 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>While the Yankees decided to stand pat, a few other teams altered their schedules, including the Mets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Mets\/status\/2041214722314248328?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The crosstown rivals announced Monday<\/a> that scheduled 7:10 p.m. starts against the Diamondbacks at Citi Field on Tuesday and Wednesday had been changed to 4:10 p.m. \u201cAs an appreciation to the fans for their understanding, commitment and flexibility,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Mets\/status\/2041216168560820231?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the Mets offered a limited number of complimentary tickets<\/a> to each game.<\/p>\n<p>Those were offered on a first-come, first-served basis.<\/p>\n<p>The Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Yankees\u2019 Triple-A affiliate, postponed their home opener, initially scheduled for Tuesday night, to Wednesday night \u201cdue to forecasted cold temperatures and below-freezing wind chills.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.milb.com\/scranton-wb\/news\/pushed-back-railriders-tuesday-home-opener-postponed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">In a press release<\/a>, the minor league club added that the decision was made \u201cout of an abundance of caution for players, fans, and staff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Somerset Patriots, the Yankees\u2019 Double-A affiliate, had their Tuesday night game in Binghamton postponed as well.
