The trade market should be filled with some very good players once again this year in Major League Baseball, and around the league, there should be a few former New York Yankees<\/a> players who are on the market.<\/p>\n

According to Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report, both the Atlanta Braves<\/a> and New York Mets<\/a> could end up battling it out for one of them, naming Luis Severino as a trade candidate and the Mets and Braves as two possible landing spots.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe might only stick around for the rest of this season. The odds of it being a playoff year for the A’s are slim. That offense is dangerous, but Severino is part of a badly undermanned pitching staff. Hence, why FanGraphs only gives the team a 9.4 percent chance of playing in October.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeverino’s surplus value suggests he isn’t worth what he’s being paid, and there is some truth to that. He only had a 4.54 ERA last year. His strikeout rate deteriorated to only 6.9 per nine innings.\u201d<\/p>\n

Severino has proven he can pitch in New York, doing so with the Yankees at a very high level for parts of his career. His time with the Athletics<\/a> has been a bit strange. He’s been a very good arm, but in Sacramento, his numbers have not been where the Athletics wanted them to be.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That could be due to them playing in a minor league park, so the Braves and Mets likely won’t have to worry too much about that. Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see two of the top teams in the National League East battle it out for an above-average arm.<\/p>\n
